General Living & Expenses
Accommodation
The following is an indicative price guide for general accommodation costs on the Gold Coast.
- Home Stay $AUS80.00 to $AUS150 per week depending on location and conditions of stay
- Share Accommodation $AUS80 to $AUS180 depending on location [does not include food] other cost may or may include utilities
- Unit and house rentals from $ AUS200 up, depending on size and location
Bus Services
Buses are readily available on the Gold Coast and times vary from 24 hour service to part time services depending on location and week day. Timetables are available on request from the school.
Taxi Services
Taxis are recommended for when going out at night. This can cost about $AUS15 - $AUS35 depending where you want to go out. [Flag fall charges apply.]
Train Services
There are a number of train stations located throughout the Coast. The train service provided connects the Gold Coast to Brisbane and all major suburbs in between. The present train service terminates at Robina Station, close to the Robina Town Shopping Centre.
Telephone
Telephone costs varies depending on the provider, there are a number of telephone providers in Australia and it varies from $AUS0.17c - $AUS0.30c per local call. You do not pay when you receive a call, only when you make a call. There is also a flat monthly rate which also varies depending on the provider. This can be anything from $AUS22 - $35 per month. There may also be a connection fee of $AUS50.
Mobile / Cell Phones
This is a very competitive market in Australia, depending on the length of your stay, depends if you choose a phone with a fixed contract or a pre-paid phone. Phones vary in price from $A99 - $A199 if you choose the pre paid option then you can buy cards that have $AUS10, $AUS20, $AUS50 credits. If you choose to go on a contract the term is generally 18months and you can buy a phone for $0 but the general monthly bill may from $AUS0 - $AUS55 per month plus call costs.

There are many companies that offer internet services, internet speeds vary depending on the location of the property. (It varies from 56K to 256K cable.) Please contact a local provider for terms, conditions and charges.
School Aged Dependants
Any school aged dependants accompanying International Students to Australia will be required to pay full fees if they are enrolled in either a government or non-government school.
